It comes as little surprise that he chose to study both, the hard part was deciding which to study first. An adventurous young man, the opportunity to study psychology on another world, Betazed, was the deciding factor. Majoring in Psychotheraphy with a minor in Health Psychology, he graduated in the top 5% of his class. After BIP, he took a year off, visiting Risa, Alpha Centauri and Vulcan, with a small group of his friends. He entered StarFleet Academy at the age of 23. Though his curriculum was concentrated in sciences, namely Zoology and Biology, he used the opportunity to enroll in some Diplomatic Relations courses as well. He graduated in the top 9% of his class. Everything seemed to be going well for him in StarFleet until StarDate 500800, when he received a message informing him of an accident back home. His family, parents and sister, had become involved in a three-vehicle hovercar accident. His family's hovercar had been the only one of the three to explode. His sister was killed instantly, his mother died shortly after arriving at the hospital. His father survived, but was badly maimed, horribly depressed and faced a long and difficult recovery. Jocelyn took leave from his current post, the USS CORONA the next day and traveled back to earth to be with his father. Over the next three-and-a-half years, he and his father both healed physically and spiritually. By the end, he had become restless. Tending to his father had given him reason to stay, but with his father strong again, Jocelyn needed to get back to a useful life. He contacted StarFleet and set about returning to active duty. His old post as Counselor of the USS CORONA (now USS CHILLICOTHE and part of Gypsy Fleet) was no longer available. But, as a new ship was being commissioned for Gypsy, someone seemed to think he'd be a perfect fit. PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE: Report By: Lieutenant Jamie Brackard Filed: SD: 440206 Jocelyn is a very bright and cheery individual. Always seen with a smile upon his face, he never seems to be down. He has a habit of trying to cheer up others who seem to need it. His desire to help people and willingness to forge new relationships seems to make him a natural fit for an eventual position as a starship's counselor. Already having the necessary background in psychology, it's curious why his course load at the Academy has only a minor portion of it devoted to Diplomatic Relations. Instead, he is concentrating on zoology and biology, and other related sciences. His love for animals is likely the basis for this, and I'm sure he would make a fine scientist in those areas. Personally, I hope he doesn't ignore his natural gifts. Report By: Lieutenant Commander Earnest Perrault Filed: SD: 540122 Though the old saying says that doctors make the worst patients, my sessions with Jocelyn have been surprisingly productive. He appears to have recovered from such a devastating family loss as the one he suffered, and I see no reason to deny his return to active duty. HOBBIES/INTERESTS: Chess, both 3-D and the classic 2-D, hockey, cooking, tending his small menagerie of pets including: a german shepherd (Fido), an orange tabby cat (Whiskers), four goldfish (Golddust, Latinum, Klondike and Spawn), one siamese fighting fish (Blaze), a canary (Tweety), a hamster (Cheeks), two ferrets (Blblup and Bob) and a boa constrictor (Jo-Jo)
